For years, Lotion P50 1970 has been the holy grail of exfoliating toners. Loved by skincare enthusiasts worldwide for its powerful blend of acids and that unmistakable "tingle," it became a cult classic, helping to resurface skin, balance pH levels, and leave complexions glowing. But if you've heard whispers (or panicked posts) about Lotion P50 1970 being discontinued, you're not imagining things. Unfortunately, this iconic formula is being phased out in certain markets due to evolving cosmetic regulations, particularly around its phenol content.
So… now what?
While saying goodbye to a beloved product is never easy, the good news is that Biologique Recherche has created several P50 variations designed to deliver similar results—without the phenol. Here’s a breakdown of your best alternatives:
This is the closest option to the 1970 version, minus the phenol. You still get that potent blend of AHAs, BHAs, and PHAs to exfoliate, purify, and rebalance the skin, but with a slightly gentler experience. Ideal if you loved the 1970 formula but need something more regulation-friendly.
If your skin is mature, dry, or needs a bit of extra nourishment, P50V is your go-to. It still exfoliates and refines but includes added vitamins and a touch more hydration to support delicate skin.
Sensitive skin? Start here. P50W is the most gentle of the P50 family, with a milder acid concentration and soothing ingredients to help reduce irritation while still offering light exfoliation.
If your main concern is brightening and fighting pigmentation, this formula is designed to target dark spots and uneven tone. It exfoliates while helping to restore radiance.
Switching from P50 1970 to another formula might require a short adjustment period, especially if you’ve been using the phenol-rich version for years. Start slowly, apply with a damp cotton pad if needed, and listen to your skin.
Yes, it's the end of an era, but it's also an opportunity to find a formula that works just as beautifully—while being safer, gentler, and compliant with modern skincare standards. And honestly? Many long-time P50 1970 users have made the switch and never looked back.

Collagen does not rebuild overnight. Barrier function does not restore itself instantly. Pigmentation does not disappear on command. Pretending otherwise creates unrealistic expectations and damaged skin.
Aida teaches clients to reframe progress. Less reactivity. Stronger resilience. Improved texture. Skin that functions better, not just looks better for a moment.

When it comes to visible skin aging, most products focus on surface correction. Smoothing lines. Adding glow. Temporarily plumping what’s already begun to collapse.
Crème M.E.C. by Biologique Recherche takes a different approach.
It targets the skin’s architecture itself.

I’ve never followed trends or ideals marketed toward women as something we’re meant to chase. I set my own standards and hold myself accountable to them. That accountability matters more than a resolution written once and abandoned weeks later.
